It’s been three years since the release of Pillars of Eternity, Obsidian Entertainment’s return to the Baldur’s Gate-style RPG. The sequel, Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire, is out today, which is a great excuse to group up and see how it is. Our party consists of Matt Miller (loremaster), Leo Vader (video bard), and me (some kind of awful beard golem?). Join us as Miller walks us through the game’s combat – both ashore and on the high seas!
As Miller explains, there’s a little something for everyone in Deadfire, provided you’re into these kinds of classic RPGs. You can agonize over every action, or let the A.I. take over the broad strokes, allowing you to focus on the myriad choices that are at your disposal? Does that include kraken romance? Who can say? Well, Miller can, but he’s being Very Weird about spoilers for some reason.
Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire is available today on PC, with console releases planned in the future.
